The Williams College Museum of Art created an open API to increase public access to their collection. We worked with the museum to generate four web experiments with machine learning to inspire further research and engagement.

  • 3D color browser
  • Map of the collection by visual similarity
  • Recommendation engine highlighting the most and least similar artifacts
  • Timeline view that charts the collection composition over time

Our Color Space experiment mapped the entire collection into a three dimensional space by primary HSL values
